Martha Thorne
Biography

Martha Thorne was recently named a Senior Advisor to the Obel Award Foundation, an international award for outstanding and impactful architectural contributions to human development and the common good.

She is also a Distinguished Professor at the IE School of Architecture & Design, having served as Dean for seven years. The School is one of five that make up the innovative and international IE University in Madrid/Segovia, Spain.

Her main interests focus on the contemporary city and how architecture, design and urbanism can create the highest quality environments and contribute to sustainability and resilience, and how education can evolve both in content and pedagogy to be more relevant to today's challenges. From 2005 to 2021, she served as Executive Director of the Pritzker Prize.

Thorne received a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Urban Affairs degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has undertaken additional studies at the London School of Economics. She is an honorary member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and also of the professional association of architects in Madrid.

Michel Rojkind

Biography

Michel Rojkind is a founding partner of Rojkind Arquitectos and, according to Forbes Life, he is representative of a Mexican generation of architects that is transforming the country. His firm was recognized by Architectural Record in 2005 as one of the top ten Vanguard Design firms.

The renowned Wallpaper magazine named him one of the 150 most important creatives of the last 15 years, and the Los Angeles Times ranked him as a Faces to Watch in 2010, the same year he was selected as an Emerging Voices by the Architectural League of New York.

The architect has been selected to participate in several large-scale international projects in Mexico, Canada, Kuwait, China, Dubai, Singapore, and Spain, most notably the Nestlé Chocolate Museum (Toluca, Mexico), which was awarded the International Architecture Award (2008).

The projeto won as one of the best worldwide in 2007, and was nominated for the British Museum Award (2008) for the ranking of the ten best buildings built that year.

Rojkind also contributed in the creation of Open House: Architecture and Technology for Intelligent Living (2006), Contemporary Corporate Architecture (2009), and Phaidon Atlas of 21st Century Architecture (2009).
