5/5/2022
Event focused on Brazilian high design takes place from 11 to 25 May, in New York
The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) will hold, between May 11 and 25, the Brazilian show Casa Brasil New York 2022. The event takes place in parallel with the Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), North America's largest platform for contemporary furniture design.
Aimed at promoting Brazilian products with high design, quality, sustainability and innovation, the initiative is an opportunity to bring Brazilian entrepreneurs from the Home & Construction sectors closer to potential buyers in the USA, as well as mapping out the local market, creating the possibility of winning new clients in the region during the action.
Among the projects on display is projeto "Alagoas Made by Hand", organised by the Alagoas State Department of Tourism, with a series of handicrafts designed by craftsmen and masters from Alagoas.
Programming - With a privileged location in the Soho neighborhood, between Broadway and Mercer streets, a region with a high flow of visitors and tourists, Casa Brasil New York will have a robust structure to guarantee the realization of several attractions. The central theme of the show of products with high design will be "Brazil in natura, terra adentro", curated by Natasha Schlobach.
Besides the exchange with the local public, business rounds are planned in partnership with sector entities, relationship events with international buyers, actions to promote Brazilian gastronomy and relationship with the press.
The action will be carried out by ApexBrasil, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consulate of Brazil in New York and the sector entities ABACT, ABILUX, ABIMOVEL, ANFACER, CENTROROCHAS, IBGM.
Opportunity - Besides being the largest economy in the world, the United States is also the main importer market of Brazilian furniture on the planet. On average, 35% of the current Brazilian exports in the sector are destined for the North American country.
According to data from the Market Intelligence area of ApexBrasil, last year, the American Gross Domestic Product was US$ 20.9 trillion, taking the country to 5th position among the largest GDPs per capita.
IEMI data reveals that the United States does not apply customs tariffs on a good portion of the products that make up the mix of ready-made furniture exported by Brazil. In addition, the country does not have any Non-Tariff Barriers (more restrictive) to Brazil. This scenario represents a stimulus for Brazilian exporters in the sector to increase their share, which today is equivalent to 0.5% of total purchases from the United States.
