Today marks the tenth anniversary of the death of architect Oscar Niemeyer. An icon of Brazilian architecture and urbanism, Oscar left an important legacy for the national architecture, with works recognized worldwide
Responsible for designing Brasília, our federal capital, he also signed other great works such as the Museu de Arte Contemporânea of Niteroi (RJ), the Planalto Palace (DF), besides having contributed with Le Corbusier and several architects in the project of the UN headquarters in New York (USA).
His work inspires students and professionals in the field, and he has become a reference for the vanguard of his ideas.
In 1988, Niemeyer was awarded the Pritzker Prize, the highest award for an architect, comparable to the Oscars of the film industry.
