foreign trade
In its 34th edition, the ENAEX 2015 (National Foreign Trade Meeting), held on 19 and 20 August, at the Sul America Convention Center, in Rio de Janeiro, had as its theme "AEB 45 Years in Favor of Competitiveness in Foreign Trade".
The event presented various panels and workshops, executive dispatches and meetings during the two days of the event, as well as an exhibition area with stands from companies, entities, public bodies and specialized media.
For Antonio Carlos Kieling, superintendent of ANFACER and director of the Brazilian Association for Foreign Trade (AEB), the ceramic industry plays an important role in the country's export market. "Today, more than 40 companies from the national sector export their products to the most diverse markets in the world. In 2014, Brazil exported to 113 countries, totaling 69.2 million square meters, which is equivalent to a revenue of US$ 279.8 million," he reveals.
Kieling tells that the Brazilian ceramic tile industry presents one of the world's highest productivities in its segment. "The competitiveness problems do not lie within the national industry, but in the set of inefficiencies in the country. In relation to the economic crisis that Brazil is going through, my view is that it is cyclical and we will get out of it in the not too distant future. The biggest problem is to solve the political issues involved, which are currently contaminating the economic scenario, making it difficult for the country to regain stability", he states.
ENAEX, a reference event in Brazil regarding foreign trade, has a propositional character, constituting a space for debate and reflection on the most relevant issues of international trade, with a focus on competitiveness. The event had an estimated public of 2,500 highly qualified professionals, operating in all areas of the foreign trade business chain.
It is also worth mentioning the presence of important authorities linked to the exporting segment, among them: the Minister of Finance, Joaquim Levy; the Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Armando Monteiro; the Minister of Ports, Edinho Araújo and the President of Apex-Brasil, David Barioni.
