Carlos M. Teixeira's book proposes new looks for the voids in urban spaces
3/8/2022
New edition of "Em obras: história do vazio em Belo Horizonte" will be released on August 13th, in Belo Horizonte
The architect Carlos M. Teixeira will launch a new edition of the book "Em obras: história do Vazio em Belo Horizonte" (Romano Guerra Editora), on August 13, 10am, at Livraria da Rua, in Belo Horizonte. In the work, he proposes a new approach about cities, focusing not on the constructions, but on the potential spaces to think about other forms of relationship between people and their surroundings.
Originally released in 1999, the book brings an approach resulting from Carlos M. Teixeira's study period at the Architectural Association, a progressive school in London. Closely connected to photography, he began to observe the interest of photographers-artists in recording and describing the transformations of large cities - and how, through photography, it was also possible to highlight the beauty and the multiplicity of paths existing in the voids of these places.
CASACOR MG
With his architecture office, Vazio S/A, Carlos will be part of this year's edition of CASACOR MG, event that takes place from August 9 to September 25, at Palácio das Mangabeiras in Belo Horizonte. The office was invited to design the event's playground, installed in a garden designed by landscaper Burle-Marx. Former residence of the state governor, the Palace is now a park open to the public and is located at the foot of the same Serrado Curral, the city's main symbol.
The projeto do Vazio S/A bets on playfulness and the possibility of interaction with the equipment by people of different ages. Working as a labyrinth, at the bottom, and a climber, at the top, accessed by several ladders arranged in the space, the installation can be used in different ways.
