Sustainability: its commitment to the environment continues to be aligned with its production processes. Last year, in addition to a 17% reduction in total electricity consumption, it adopted the GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol), a globally recognized standard for measuring its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, with the aim of improving the accuracy and credibility of environmental data related to atmospheric emissions. What's more, 92.5% of the waste generated in the factories was destined for noble purposes, such as reuse or recycling; the remaining 7.5% was sent to landfills or incineration. We also collected and disposed of 45 tons of organic waste, which is equivalent to saving more than 300 trips between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in CO₂ emissions. Biomass, a renewable, cleaner and more efficient fuel that also reuses waste from the wood industry, accounts for 17% of the energy matrix.
In accordance with the National Solid Waste Policy, the company has a Reverse Logistics Plan, which measures the amount of packaging invoiced by state in Brazil and, last year, offset 30% of this volume through recycling credits.
